Older people are invited to a free advice and information event to be held in the Winter Gardens, Station Road, Ilkley, tomorrow, Friday, from 10.30am to 2pm.
Open House, the drop-in for the over-50s, is supporting the ‘spreading warmth and well-being’ event by inviting Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action (KIVCA) to use the space within the Winter Gardens on that day.
Julie Lintern, older people’s development manager at KIVCA, said: “The event will bring together different services and agencies who will be able to inform local residents about how to stay safe and well during cold weather spells and adverse weather conditions.”
The request to get all agencies under one roof in the town came from the LS29 Mutual Support Network, a collective of people who run services and activities for the over-50s. Agencies confirmed so far are Home Energy Checks, Fuel Debt Advice, Neighbourhood Watch, Age UK, Self Care, Council Wardens, Churches Together in Ilkley, Good Neighbours and The Clarke Foley Centre.
