This week we are featuring some of the photographs we have received so far in our ‘Winter Scenes’ competition, where the winner of each category (18 and under and over 18) will win a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ40, pictured above.

Sponsored by Panasonic UK and run in conjunction with Annings camera shop in Ilkley and the youth committee of the Rotary Club of Ilkley, the competition aims to focus on photography by young people.

The theme of the competition is Winter Scenes, so we are hoping to see lots of crisp nature pictures – possibly with ice and maybe even snow, depending on what the weather does in the next few weeks.

The runners-up in each age category win a 20inx16in canvas print of the photograph.

The closing date for entries is Friday, February 28.

The Rotary Club’s youth committee plays an active role in encouraging young people to prosper and interact with the community. Some of its projects include running the Young Dales Chef competition, organising the Pancake Race, holding a handwriting competition and a technology tournament, as well as running a Leadership Award.

Photographic entries must have been taken within the circulation area of the Ilkley Gazette and Wharfedale & Aireborough Observer.

Entries can be submitted digitally by e-mail to: george.hinton@ gazetteand observer.co.uk.

Pictures must be RGB jpeg attachments with file sizes between 500kb and 3mb per e-mail and each image must include the photographer’s name in the filename.

Hard-copy images should be sent to: Photographic Competition, Gazette and Observer, 8 Wells Road, Ilkley, LS29 9JD. Unfortunately entries cannot be returned. Entries must include the name, age, and address of the entrant and a daytime telephone number.

Terms and conditions:

Employees of Newsquest Yorkshire & North East Ltd and Annings Ilkley Ltd are not eligible to enter.

The closing date is noon on Friday, February 28. Prizes are not transferable and no cash equivalent is available.
