A debt charity which saw more than 10,000 people complete its money management course in 2013 wants more people to sign up in the new year.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) offers free budgeting sessions with the CAP Money Course to help people gain control of their cash.

The course, usually run over three sessions, is delivered across the UK through churches, which have been trained by Bradford-based CAP.

It shows people how to use a cash-based money management system Now the charity wants to see more people put money management at the top of their to-do list for 2014.

Course development manager Edd Parker said: “January is a great time to take a fresh look at your financial situation and make a plan for the year ahead. This past year it’s been really exciting to see so many people being proactive about taking control of their finances.

“Lots of people told us they’d never had the opportunity to learn the basic skills before coming on the course and found things like our online budgeting tool are incredibly helpful.”
