Children from Burley Woodhead Primary School and Burley Oaks Primary school officially opened the new Co-operative food store on Main Street on Thursday, with store manager, James Williment.

The schools will each receive a £100 donation for their help on the day.

The new 2,000sqft convenience store has been designed around an appreciation of good food, wine and modern cuisine. Alongside an increased range of products, there will be extensive ranges of fresh and chilled produce, and ready meals.

Mr Williment said: “Burley-in-Wharfedale residents are passionate about their food and our new Co-operative food store will certainly reflect this. The relocated store will be packed with modern and interesting meal ideas that, while quick and easy to put together, are sure to impress. Together with great offers, customers will be able to effortlessly create fabulous-tasting meals for themselves and their family and friends.

“We are thrilled to open the doors of our new store on Main Street and as a community retailer it is important to us that our two neighbouring primary schools played a central role in the opening of our new store.”
