A Brownie group which shares its birthday with a Time Lord is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The 1st Esholt Brownies unit was formed in 1963 – the year when Dr Who first appeared on our screens – and since then it has given countless hours of fun to hundreds of young girls.
The Unit Leader Despina Hadjioannou, who has been a volunteer there for more than 30 years, is taking the girls away on a Brownie holiday to celebrate, with fun activities including cooking and a trim trail.
She said: “I love seeing the girls achieve something they didn’t think they could do and how they develop over the years and grow in confidence.”
Reva District Commissioner Jill Buddle said: “A lot has changed in 50 years, Brownies now have their own website.”
