A carol concert in a unique historic building will take place in Bramhope next week.

The annual Bramhope and Carlton parish carol service will be held in the Puritan Chapel on Wednesday, December 18, at 8pm.

Parish councillor John Howard said: “This is always a wonderfully atmospheric occasion, with the historic building specially illuminated for the occasion.

“The dark wood of the box pews, a fixture since the chapel was built in 1649, and the lights flickering on the whitewashed walls provide a very special setting for the short service of five carols and three readings. “Once the service is over, everyone is welcome to mulled wine and mince pies across the road at St Giles’ Church hall. To many, this is the essence of Christmas.

“Seats are limited and latecomers may have to stand in the aisles so you are advised to come early.

“The heating system was significantly improved last year as part of the continuing programme of careful maintenance so it is no longer necessary to add the traditional warning to wrap up warm.”
