Leeds Trinity University’s undergraduate degree in nutrition, food and health has been accredited by a prestigious body.

The Association for Nutrition is the highest international body for the subject. Graduates of AfN Accredited Courses have the opportunity to apply for direct entry to the UK Voluntary Register of Nutritionists at associate level.

The university prides itself on pioneering the approach of offering professional work placements with every degree, and they continue to form an integral part of its courses.

Recent figures revealed that 91 per cent of Leeds Trinity’s 2012 graduates were in work or further study six months after graduating.

Dr Lisa Gatenby, pictured right, registered nutritionist and associate senior lecturer for nutrition, food and health at Leeds Trinity has been asked to become an assessor for the AfN, along with Professor Judy Donnelly, professor of nutrition education at Leeds Trinity University.

Dr Gatenby said: “We’re really pleased to have been successful in getting the course accredited. It was quite a task gathering all of the evidence required, but it’s worth it to have recognition from the AfN for the quality of our course.

“It’s also great news for our students, who can now easily enter the UKVRN following their degree.”
