Work on new Airedale Hospital emergency department set to begin
10:00am Saturday 12th October 2013 in News
Work on the new Emergency Department for Airedale Hospital will be starting next week.
The work will mean moving the current Accident and Emergency department to a temporary location, the old endoscopy unit (along the corridor from the existing department), for 10 to 12 months, while the new state-of-the-art Emergency Department is being built. Refurbishment work has already taken place to transform the old endoscopy unit into a temporary A&E facility.
The internal move will take place during Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, with the old A&E department expected to close during Wednesday.
Patients and ambulances attending Airedale Hospital’s A&E department from Wednesday will both use the existing ambulance entrance, which will be clearly signposted for A&E patients as well.
Meg Crossley, consultant in emergency medicine at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust and clinical lead for the project, said: “We appreciate this will be challenging and we would ask the public for patience and understanding and to work with us to provide safe and appropriate care.”
