An Ilkley engineering firm has welcomed a new apprentice in a four-year scheme.
Tubular metal products producer, Olicana Products Ltd, on East Parade, Ilkley was pleased to welcome Jack Waddington at the beginning of his four year apprenticeship.
He knew from an early age that engineering is something he would like to do as a career, says Olicana products, and spent five years studying product design at school and engineering for two in his Sixth Form at St Aidan’s in Harrogate.
Having finished sixth form, he was ready to try something new and with the help of Appris, the National Apprenticeship Service, found an apprenticeship place at Olicana Products.
He will learn new skills, and for the first two years, will be spending a day each week attending York College to study for his BTec Level 3 in mechanical engineering.
