Ilkley Christchurch harvest festival helps food bank
1:53pm Thursday 19th September 2013 in News
Surplus produce from allotments and gardens, plus homemade chutneys and jams, were donated by the congregation of Christchurch in Ilkley as part of a harvest festival of thanksgiving.
Church-goers donated the food to be sold last week, and proceeds of the stall were donated to a food bank, along with a donation of tinned goods from Tesco.
On Sunday, the congregation brought in non-perishable items to be donated to a food bank.
On Saturday evening, people of all ages enjoyed a barn dance in the Sanctuary area of the church and a home-cooked harvest supper.
There is also an opportunity for dads, uncles and grandads to get together to enjoy time with their children at Christchurch on Saturday from 9-11am.
A cooked breakfast will be served along with food for the children and there will be lots of activities for children to enjoy with the grown-ups.
The cost is £3.50 for adults and 50p for children.
It will be held in the Lower Hall, which can be found at the main entrance of the church.
