Cat registered in Switzerland found on Otley Chevin
1:56pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
Mystery surrounds a Swiss cat which was found in a confused state near Otley bypass.
It is believed the cat may have been in a road accident before being found and taken to the vet, suffering from a broken nose and shock.
Graham Hoult, of Wharfe Valley Cats Protection, said: “Infuriatingly the cat is micro-chipped but the chip has never been registered by the vet who implanted it nor has the original owner registered the number in the UK or Switzerland where it was implanted. CP has checked with the Swiss microchip register and they confirm the cat was chipped in the French part of Switzerland but they have no other information.”
He added: “The finder of the cat is willing to give her a home but is anxious to try all avenues to reunite the cat with her real owner.”
He appealed for information from anyone who knew the cat – a female light tortoiseshell – or who knew a family with recent links to Switzerland.
He added: “Of course the cat could be from miles away in the UK and fallen from a car or removal van. We have no way of knowing until someone recognises her – or the Swiss connection rings a bell somewhere.”
