Extra funding for Wharfedale and Airedale hospitals over winter
1:23pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
An MP has welcomed more than £3 million of Government funding to help hospitals cope with extra demand over the winter period.
Pudsey, Horsforth and Aireborough MP Stuart Andrew made his comments after a Government announcement of £250 million funding to NHS England to ensure that Hospital Trust’s are fully equipped to handle extra demand over winter and in the future.
Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust will receive a £1,890,000 share of the grant while Airedale NHS Foundation Trust is to receive £1,450,000. Both trusts care for people within Mr Andrew’s constituency.
He said: “I am very pleased that the people within my constituency are to benefit from the additional funding as outlined in today’s announcement.
“NHS England and the NHS Trust Development Authority have been working jointly to determine where the funding will make the greatest impact and will make a difference to patients and their care for when they fall ill. The winter period leads to greater demand at hospitals and A&E departments and news of the extra funding is one that I hugely welcome.”
