A cricket game with a difference came to Ilkley last weekend – bringing with it a free day of fun for all the family.

Runs On The Board is an arts and cricket celebration for the over 50s, supported by Yorkshire County Cricket Club and, for the first time, sponsored by Yorkshire Building Society.

Cricket teams from around Yorkshire compete in a bid to win the Grey Fox Trophy. One of the first pool games took place in Ilkley where the Bradford Bhuddays took on a team from Fishlake.

Entry to the ground was free on the day and Yorkshire Building Society provided music, entertainment and cream teas. For all the little ones who came to join in the fun a face painter was on hand to transform them into their favourite characters.

The Grey Fox Trophy competition also teamed up with another local event that took place last weekend – The Bradford Curry Festival. At the match on Sunday a pop-up Indian restaurant was in situ with chefs serving up mouth-watering dishes.

Lewis Wilkinson, manager of Yorkshire Building Society’s Ilkley branch said: “We are really excited to be a part of Runs On The Board and had a great day at the match on Sunday – it was lots of fun.

“I never imagined I would see myself dressed up as a tea pot but it was all part of the fun.”
