Tariq's plea to join Bramhope Comic relief run
11:00am Thursday 14th March 2013 in News
A village newsagent is urging people to run or walk a mile around Golden Acre Park to raise money for Comic Relief.
Tariq Qadeer, who runs the newsagent in Bramhope, is asking people from the village and from surrounding areas to turn out and support the event this weekend.
He is hoping to raise more than £1,000 with the fundraiser which will take place on Sunday.
Tariq said: “I have the necessary permission from the Leeds City Council and they are more than happy for us to organise this event in the Park.
“Last year I did this in Bramhope Cricket fields and it was very successful. More than 70 people took part and we raised £800.
“This year we are doing this in the park as if it is a wet day Golden Acre park has a path all the way round the lake people can still walk/ jog or run a mile for Red Nose Day.”
The event starts at 11am with registration at 10.30am. The cost is £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and £12 for families. All money raised will go to Comic Relief. Anyone taking part can register in advance or on the day.
