Thieves target cars at Golden Acre Park

Theft from cars parked at Golden Acre Park were the most common crimes committed in the Bramhope and Pool-in-Wharfedale areas last month.

New police statistics for January show that three vehicles in the park’s car park were targeted by criminals, who broke in to steal handbags.

There were also two break-ins, one at a shed on Moor Road, Bramhope, where a motorbike was stolen, and the other at the Bramhope Scouts Camp Site, on Occupation Lane.

The wooden doors of the Scouts’ building were forced open but the intruders left empty handed after being faced with a second set of doors.

The only incident of criminal damage reported last month happened in the car park of the Parkway Hotel, near Bramhope, when the window of a Vauxhall Insignia was smashed.

Arrests made in January included that of a 26-year-old man from Seacroft, in connection with three thefts from vehicles at Golden Acre Park’s car park, and a 21-year-old from Belle Isle for a similar, but separate offence at the same location.

A 48-year-old Otley man was also arrested and has been charged with drink driving on Leeds Road, Bramhope.
