Bradford's Lady mayoress hosts Big Brew event for cancer charity
3:22pm Thursday 21st February 2013 in News
The Lady Mayoress of Bradford, Margaret Smith, will open an event for a cancer charity’s Big Brew campaign tomorrow.
Cancer Support Bradford & Airedale’s campaign runs from March 1 to 31 and gives people the opportunity to host their own coffee mornings, afternoon teas, cake sales and workplace events to raise money for the charity.
As part of the opening, in the Banqueting Suite of Bradford’s City Hall from 10.30am until 2.30pm, people will be able to pick up gift ideas for Easter or Mother's Day at a selection of stalls.
Mrs Smith, of Menston, said: “I am delighted to be hosting the launch of the Big Brew. The charity has supported patients and their families for the last 25 years and I want to make sure they are around for the next 25 for everyone who needs them.
“I look forward to meeting people who pop in to City Hall for a cuppa on the Friday.”
Each year, the charity provides holistic support which helps to make a positive difference to the lives of over 3,500 local people affected by a cancer diagnosis.
The Book People will be selling items at discounted prices, with ten per cent of all sales going to the Lord Mayor's Appeal.
Bradford Bulls will support the event and six members of the squad will call in for a drink with the Lady Mayoress between noon-1.30pm.
Health and Beauty students from Bradford College will provide a selection of mini beauty treatments.
