ST JOHN’S CHURCH: St John’s is supporting the Lent Lectures held on successive Mondays, from February 25 to March 18, from 7.30-9pm at the Catholic Church Hall, in Bradford Road, Burley. The series theme is Vocation with a talk by Canon Sam Corley of Bradford Cathedral asking the question Does everyone have a vocation? All are welcome to attend. The Fairtrade Fortnight from February 24 to March 10 begins with the 10am service next Sunday. If you are already a supporter you will want to be there. If you are not, come along to hear the magnificent work that fairtrade does. Also for your diary Chris Powell will be giving a talk in the Parish Room called Trash to Treasure on how recycled items in our bins are sold to raise large sums for charity on Thursday, April 4, at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £5 and are on sale throughout March. Keep up with St John’s via stjohnmenston.org. uk. Services on Sunday are 8am holy communion welcoming the Rev Christopher Armstrong and 10am a service together marking the start of Fairtrade Fortnight.

METHODIST CHURCH: The Rev Tim Perkins will take our 10.30am service on Sunday. The Friday club will be meeting tomorrow at 6pm to 7pm and then going to Jack & The Beanstalk at Kirklands at 7.15pm. Please note An Evening with Alfred Wainwright due to be presented by John Burland at Menston Methodist Church on Tuesday at 7.30pm has now been cancelled. We have various activities at the church including Wesley Guild, Wednesday group and women’s fellowship. These groups meet fortnightly. If you would like further information, ring us on (01943) 871909. We also have a very active walking group meeting every Thursday at Kirklands at either 9.30am or 10am, depending on the length of the walk. Cornerstone Cafe adjoining the church is operated by volunteers from 10am to 2pm for light refreshments and lunches on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with last orders at 1.45pm and on Saturdays 10-noon for light refreshments.
