Valentine’s day launch for community fund

Valentine’s Day saw the Launch of the Bradford District Community Fund (BDCF) at City Hall Bradford with over 50 distinguished guests from the public, private and voluntary sectors including the Lord Mayor Councillor Dale Smith and Gerry Sutcliffe MP.

The BDCF aims to raise funds locally for distribution to local community groups and charities and build an endowment fund which will provide a periodic income to be distributed to good causes. This endowment model has been very successful in other parts of the region and the UK.

BDCF’s Development Manager Philip Cavalier-Lumley announced in his speech the opening of a £21,000 grants programme for local community groups and charities concerned with Children and Young People which had recently received a £5,000 boost from Pace PLC based in Saltaire.

Mr Cavalier-Lumley added: “The BDCF is off to a flying start already, making such a positive impact in our communities throughout the district and there is so much more we can do.”
