Ilkley mums gearing up for nearly-new sale
10:00am Monday 11th February 2013 in News
Members of Wharfedale NCT are preparing for their nearly-new sale in Ilkley next month
Plans are well under way for the next NCT nearly-new sale, which will be held from 10am to noon on Sunday, March 17, at The Clarke Foley Centre in Ilkley.
The cost of kitting out a child for the first five years can run into thousands of pounds, so many parents and grandparents take the opportunity to pick up nearly new baby and children's clothes (0-7 years), toys and equipment at a fraction of the price you would pay on the high street.
Nationally, every year, more than 200,000 expectant and new parents attend NCT nearly-new sales, and the twice-yearly Wharfedale sale is one of the most popular in Yorkshire, attracting around 80 sellers and more than 200 buyers per sale.
As well as residents from the Wharfe Valley, the sale attracts visitors from Leeds, Bradford, Lancashire, Skipton and the Dales.
Antonia Bruce, seller co-ordinator, said: “Anyone can sell at our nearly-new sales. You don't have to be a member of the charity. If your home is full of things that your kids have grown out of, it’s a great opportunity to have a spring clear-out and make some money! Places often fill up quickly so it's best to register early by e-mailing wharfedalenctsale@hotmail.com.”
The NCT sale is run entirely by volunteers, and the committee are looking for more people to help out on the day. Contact johnandcarolinemutton@virginmedia.com for details of volunteering.
