WOMEN’S INSTITUTE: At our first meeting this year the resolutions on the decline of our high streets and town centres and resolving to keep young people suicide safe online were discussed. The group voted in favour of supporting the second resolution by 35 votes to 11. This was followed by a talk and slide show by Alex Purvis on Humour in Art-Visual Wit. This introduced us to a different perspective in art. Our pantomime visit this year was to see Yeadon Charities’ lively and colourful production of Aladdin. The last meeting in January was to the Wetherby Whaler in Guiseley for our new year lunch where we were well looked after by the restaurant staff.
