ST JOHN’S CHURCH: The Jubilee Book, reaching its final form in the capable hands of Joyce Simpson, will contain reminiscences from many Menston folk of all ages. One short piece is about John Francis Stansfield Walter, a soldier who died at the end of World War Two and was buried in Malaysia. If anyone has any recollections of him or is still in touch with the family, please contact Joyce through the church office which is open Tuesday to Thursdays 9.30am to noon. Look out for further announcements about The Jubilee Book which should be a varied, fascinating read. Don’t forget to keep an eye open for the Real Easter Eggs over the coming weeks – you may want to ask about this Fairtrade campaign when you shop. Meanwhile, for those of more mature years, the Sunday Social for February is this week, on Monday from 2.30-4.30pm in the parish room. Keep up with St John’s at stjohnmenston.org.uk. Services on Sunday are 8am holy communion, 10am parish eucharist and 4pm evensong, which begins its new season this week.
