Burley-in-Wharfedale guide completes leader qualification

A Guide was officially presented with her new young leader qualification on the day of her 18th birthday.

Young Leader Emma Brown completed her Adult Leader Qualification with the 2nd Burley Guides, Burley-in-Wharfedale, mentored by unit leader Heather Potter.

She has been through the Guiding system as a Brownie, Guide, Ranger, Assistant Leader and now Young Leader.

Emma achieved the bronze, silver and gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards at Burley Rangers, plus her Senior Section Camp Permit, and is said to be currently well on her way to completing the Queen's Guide.

She was presented with her qualification by Sue Vint, District Commissioner for Woodhead, the Burley and Menston division of Girlguiding Wharfedale.

She said Emma’s commitment as a young leader was exemplary.
