A Ben Rhydding author who is revelling in the success of his debut novel has released his second book.

Former banker Alan Reynolds’s first book, Flying with Kites, attracted critical and public acclaim, with more than 25 five-star reviews on Amazon.

Now, along with local publishers Fisher King Publishing he is promoting his latest book, Taskers End, a gripping psychological thriller following the adventures of Gerald Perry, a diagnosed schizophrenic and convicted murderer.

The book opens with a panel of three criminal psychologists going through his file and deciding whether he is well enough to be released back into the community from the secure mental institution where he has been locked away for more than five years.

With the support of a family solicitor he assumes a new identity and returns to his family seat, a large rambling house called Taskers End which he inherited from his grandparents, to start to build a new life for himself.

Soon, after his release he discovers that his beloved grandparents died in mysterious circumstances and he is convinced their deaths were not accidental. When no-one will take his concerns seriously, he uses his forensic skills from his university days to carry out his own investigation, but with devastating consequences. Will the old house give up its secrets?

Then there is Maureen, the unsuspecting girl who falls in love with him.

For everyone who becomes involved with Gerald Perry life will never be the same again.

The book is available online via Amazon and is priced from £7.99.
