Injured soldiers will be helped with money raised from a brass band concert in Yeadon.

The 15th annual event, organ-ised by the Rotary Club of Aire-borough, raised about £3,000 for the Army Benevolent Fund – the Soldiers’ Charity – and Help for Heroes.

The concert, which took place at the town hall on Friday, featured the Hepworth Band, current British Open Grand Shield champions. Compere and conductor was Frank Renton, of radio Listen To The Band fame.

About 370 people attended the event, which is the club’s main fundraiser, and were treated to music around the theme of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Rotary Club president Brian Whitham said: “We feel it went very well – there was almost a full house.”
