Guiseley Football club stunned as former player is shot dead

MEMBERS of Guiseley AFC and the Wharfedale District FA were stunned to hear of the death of one of their former players.

Twenty-year-old Adam Chadwick died after a struggle with three masked men who burst into his sister's home in Clifton Mount, Harehills, Leeds, last week.

The young carpet fitter from Seacroft had called to see his sister Gemma when the gun gang struck.

One theory detectives were investigating was that the killers got the wrong house.

Football fanatic Adam was known as Smiler'. The young midfielder always had a smile on his face and is remembered at Guiseley Football Club in just that way.

Guiseley AFC Reserve Team Secretary Rachel O'Connor said: "Adam always had a smile or a cheeky grin on his face. He loved his football and was always well supported by his family at games. His dad Martin and mum Jackie were always there to watch him.

"He played for both our U-19 and reserve teams and he also represented the Wharfedale FA in the West Riding County Minor Cup U-17 side.

"He had represented Leeds City Boys while at school and was a very skilful player.

"He introduced his cousin Liam Robinson to our club and our thoughts are now with Liam and the rest of Adam's family at this very sad time."
