The 112th Ilkley Open Tournament draws nearer
THE Ilkley Open Lawn Tennis Tournamant is drawing nearer - this year's is the 112th and it will be staged at lkley Lawn Tennis and Squash Club from July 26 to August 2.
It is the north's premier grass court event with more than 600 competitors and over 2,000 spectators expected to attend. The tournament is one huge, week long, festival of tennis with international and national tennis events being run alongside junior and local adult and veteran events.
West Yorkshire law firm, Last Cawthra Feather will sponsor this year's Ilkley Women's British Tour singles event. This high profile event forms part of the JM Glendinning Ilkley International Tennis Tournament and will attract a top quality field of British players, many of whom will have world rankings.
General manager Caroline Buncall said: " Last Cawthra Feather Sports Law advise professional sports people including tennis professionals and our event will host many up and coming young international players."
"Entry to watch the tennis is free and we hope that we will get a large number of spectators to watch top class players in action," said Caroline.
She added: "On the morning of finals day on August 2 we are also throwing our club open to young children to try the games of tennis and squash and we hope that the local community will come down and take part in this fantastic event. I'm sure the event will be a huge success."
Last Cawthra Feather's managing partner Simon Stell said: "Everyone at Last Cawthra Feather is looking forward to seeing so many talented sportswomen compete, and to also see players from the local members, right through to up and coming stars of the future."
