Prize day was a real winner

Last year April time you ran a competition to win a free party of 80 guests at the Cavendish Pavilion at Bolton Abbey.

I saw this and said to my partner of 12 years “shall we enter this competition, and if we win, shall we get married?”. He replied, “go on then” so I did, and yes, we won! What a surprise, I wasn’t expecting to get married or win the wonderful prize.

With our good news we proceeded to go ahead with the plans to get married which we did on April 1, this year.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Bolton Abbey estate decided to refurbish the Cavendish Pavilion and the venue was no longer available for evening celebrations.

So the management at the Devonshire Arms offered us their venue to get married there and have our evening celebrations at no extra cost.

We also decided to stay for the night in one of the Devonshire’s exquisite rooms, and to our surprise on the evening they had upgraded that too, and thrown in a bottle of champagne to add to our celebrations.

It was, I have to say, the most wonderful wedding and the staff were beyond outstanding and they fulfilled our requirements for the whole day.

Special thanks to the wedding organiser Donna, and to Tom who went to extraordinary lengths to make the evening as special as it was, and not forgetting the chef and all the bar and waiting staff.

We are now happily married thanks to your prize advertised your newspaper.
