I would like to express my sympathies and shock at the death of Councillor Clive Fox.

I had known Clive for more than 40 years as friend and colleague on Bramhope and Carlton Parish Council.

His role as both parish councillor and Leeds City councillor was an enormous support during my seven-and-a-half year tenure as the PC’s chairman, particularly regarding planning.

He helped me in carrying out a lot of reforms and improvements to the village properties and environment, including the setting-up of the Bramhope Village Property Trust to buy land for the village.

He worked tirelessly for the residents which was reflected in his repeated re-election as a ward councillor for Leeds.

He was also a walking reference book on Bramhope’s history which was superbly deployed in several history walks during village festivals. We regularly kept up to-date by e-mail giving him the opportunity to vent frustrations/annoyances with a lot of subtle humour.

Clive’s commitment to Bramhope was unfailing and he will be greatly missed.

My wife and I extend our deepest sympathies to Diane and their family.

Colin Robertson, Bramhope
