Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone stepped out for the world premiere of The Amazing Spider-Man
Andrew Garfield has admitted it wasn't hard to channel his inner adolescent for The Amazing Spider-Man - because he still feels like one.
The 28-year-old actor turned out with co-star and real-life love interest Emma Stone, 23, for the Los Angeles premiere of the movie, in which he plays bookish teenager Peter Parker.
"I still feel like an insecure teenager right now. It's one of the most pertinent and memorable and painful experiences that we all go through, which is adolescence, and I'm not that far from it, I'm not 40," he said.
"I'm not literally a teenager, but that voice in me is still very much alive and well, much to my chagrin, so I just had to re-access that and bring it up and it felt awkward and horrible and fun."
Meanwhile Emma, who has been travelling the world to promote the new movie, revealed she's been touched to see the impact Spider-Man has had on fans around the world.
She said: "People love Spider-Man, which is really really cool - to see people when you go to nine different countries, feel just as strongly about this character and it's been just as important in their lives, it's really exciting to know that."
Emma plays Spider-Man's college student love interest Gwen Stacy in the film, and reckons her character is very different to his subsequent flame Mary Jane.
"She's kind of the polar opposite to Mary Jane in many ways - a major part is that she is really Peter's equal in a lot of different ways, intellectually, and she's kind of aggressive in a way," the actress explained.
