This Saturday there will be a one-night-only event, when Ian Wilson will be presenting his One Man Show.
Ian will be sharing his theatrical reminiscences as well as performing poems, songs, dramatic recitations. In his time at the Playhouse, Ian has appeared in over sixty productions, directed 38 and
has made regular contributions in the studio theatre.
The show will take place in the Wildman Studio with the audience seated at tables, cabaret-style.
The tickets, £10 each, include a light supper. All funds will go towards the Playhouse’s Wharfeside Theatre development.
The next production in the Wharfeside Theatre opens next week. Alistair McGowan’s comedy-drama Timing begins on Wednesday, January 18 and runs until Saturday, January 28.
The play is set in a recording studio where voiceover artist Julian arrives to record a car advert and discovers he will be working with his former girlfriend. As the tension mounts and the
creative team race against the clock, the witty one-liners bounce back and forth.
Rehearsals are well underway for the next production in the Wildman studio – The Pillowman by Martin McDonagh.
A razor-sharp, extremely dark black comedy, The Pillowman was very well received by audiences and critics alike when it first opened at the National Theatre in 2003 and went on to win the 2004
Olivier Award for Best New Play.
The Pillowman opens on Monday, February 6, and runs for six nights. Please note, the play contains scenes and language which may cause offence – it is not suitable for children.
The Playhouse is also delighted to announce that during the run of the Alan Ayckbourn comedy Absent Friends (Wednesday, February 29 to Saturday, March 10) there will be a signed performance on
Thursday, March 1, at 7.30pm. The play is directed by Ian Wilson and Kay Vann.
