THE LIFE and songs of Billie Holiday will be brought to life at Otley Courthouse next week.

Patti Boulaye OBE is bringing her one-woman show, Billie and Me, to the venue on Friday, April 27.

The award-winning singer and musical theatre star will also discuss the parallels between her life and career and that of Billie Holiday during the evening.

Holiday’s songs of love and loss have led countless artists to become jazz singers.

In Billie and Me Patti will be performing some of the best-loved tunes from the jazz legend's repertoire, including That Ole Devil Called Love, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Lover Man and God Bless the Child.

Patti came to prominence as a singer by winning the British ITV talent show New Faces, where she made history by becoming the only contestant ever to receive the maximum 120 points.

Last year saw the publication of her autobiography, The Faith of a Child, which charted her remarkable life story.

Born in a Nigeria torn apart by civil war, she made her West End debut in the musical Hair aged just 17 - and is now 47 years into her career in show business.

Patti was also awarded an OBE, for her charity work in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa, in 2016.

Her Otley show starts at 8pm and tickets cost £15.

They can be booked by calling (01943) 467466, visiting www.otleycourthouse.org.uk or popping into the Courthouse, on Courthouse Street.
