PEOPLE are being invited to dance the night away to the Two Rivers Swing Band this weekend.

The Two Rivers Swing Band, with musical director Trevor Vincent, will be holding one of its popular dances in Ilkley at the Winter Garden on Saturday.

Doors open at 7.45pm and the music starts at 8pm.

The evening promises to get everyone “In the Mood”.

The audience will be treated to three sets of live big band music - Swing Era classics by Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Glenn Miller, along with Jive, Latin, Rock ‘n’Roll and even the occasional Waltz.

There will be easy to follow jive and swing lessons in the intervals given by Mark and Debbie from Yeadon based 2/- Jive. They are sure to get everyone up on the dance floor.

And even non-dancers will be welcome to come along and enjoy some great music.

Tickets are £10 and are available from Ilkley Visitor Information Centre (01943 602319), from any band member, or by emailing ask2rivers@icloud.com.

The Two Rivers Swing Band practices at St James’ Church, Baildon every Thursday evening. It is run as a charity along with its Ilkley based sister band, the Two Rivers Concert Band.

Band chairman Les Goldman said: “The Swing Band dance is one of the highlights of our year. We’re sure the audience will enjoy themselves and we will certainly enjoy playing for them”.

Last year Two Rivers Bands raised over £2,300 for the charities they support, including £1,325 for Médecins Sans Frontières.

They regularly perform at concerts and bandstands, and are now developing small ensembles among their members to play at schools, care homes and smaller community events.

The next Concert Band performance will be on Sunday, March 25 at 2pm at Cliffe Castle Museum, Keighley as part of the Music in the Museum free concert series.
