ILKLEY Moornotes Community Choir is looking forward to their concert on Saturday, December 16 at Christchurch Ilkley. It is their first concert in the town since Kate Stevens, their new conductor was appointed in September.

Kate's background in music is predominantly in singing, both as a performer and teacher. Her love of music led her to Leeds to study her Masters in Music Performance at the University of Leeds. From the South-West of England originally Kate has now decided to call Leeds her home and has brought her knowledge in performance of many genres with her to fill the role of choir leader for Moornotes. Strongly believing that you are never too old to learn, and having focused her research on the technical elements of singing, Kate said she is honoured to be able to work with a choir whose excellent reputation precedes them.

Moornotes have already sung at Fountains Abbey and will be busking around Ilkley on Saturday December 9.

Tickets for the concert will be available on the night and also can be ordered by ringing 01943 603504. The proceeds will be divided between ‘Let’s Sing Together’, Motor Neurone Research and the Disasters Emergency Committee.

A choir spokesperson said: "The choir love singing together and hope to welcome you to the concert."
