AUDIENCE members will be able to meet veterans of the Normandy Landings at Otley Courthouse this month.

Bomb Happy is a play by Helena Fox which brings to life the testimonies of the last remaining York Normandy Veterans.

The show, a collaboration between Everwitch Theatre, the veterans and Helmsley Arts Centre will be performed at the Courthouse on Friday, November 24.

Featuring a haunting soundtrack by Sam McAvoy and atmospheric lighting design by Steven Woolmar, the play seeks to immerse the audience into the lives of five ordinary young conscripts.

It follows them as they set out for Normandy and the pivotal experiences of D-Day and after, right through to VE Day, which will stay with them for life.

After the show, which starts at 7.30pm and is suitable for ages 12 and over, there will be an opportunity to meet some of the real men behind the stories along with their wives and widows.

Tickets for Bomb Happy cost £12 and can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466 or visiting the Courthouse, on Courthouse Street.
