RETRO music fans will be able to 'rock out' to the sounds of the Seventies in Ilkley this winter.

The Solid Gold 70s Show, featuring a flamboyantly dressed cast performing a string of glamrock, disco and power ballad hits along with famous party anthems, is coming to the King's Hall on Thursday, December 3.

The production features performances of classic tracks by the likes of Sweet, T Rex, Queen, Elton John, !0CC, ABBA, Suzi Quatro, The Bay City Rollers and more.

Backed by a band whose members have performed with Mike Oldfield, Asia and Ultravox, the production boasts a 'superb musical pedigree', says producer Michael Taylor.

He added: "Take a step back to a time.

"Back to when 7.30pm on a Thursday night could mean only one thing - TVs tuned into BBC1 and families gathered together to watch Top of the Pops.

“If, like me, you have fond memories of Pans People and Eurovision, Luke Skywalker and Saturday Night Fever, Danny and Sandy...or Dastardly and Muttley, this is the show for you.

“With the cast bursting into the spotlight like an explosion-in-a-paint shop, we guarantee theatregoers the most colourful, top of the pops time of their lives."

Mr Taylor, whose other hit touring shows include the Magic of Motown and Thank You for the Music, says Solid Gold 70s is the most fun production on his company’s 20-show roster.

Audiences are invited to don fashion items from the era - including platforms, flares, cat suits, tank tops and boob tubes - and 'air guitars' are welcome.

The Ilkley show starts at 7.45pm - for ticket details call (01943) 602319 or visit bradford-theatres.co.uk/kings-hall .
