FRONT Country will showcase songs from their new album when they perform in Otley next month.

The band, who describe their sound as 'American Roots Pop', will take the stage at the Courthouse at 8pm on Thursday, October 12.

The group cut its musical teeth in progressive bluegrass jams in San Francisco’s Mission District and by rehearsing in the East Bay.

They learned to play roots music in their own, distinctive way by using the instruments and personnel they had at hand.

That included: a?mandolinist?with a degree in composition and classical guitar; a?guitarist?trained in rock and world music;?a bassist?equally versed in jazz and bluegrass; and a?violinist?with technique that could seamlessly hop between honky tonk and electropop.

The line-up also features a lead singer, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Melody Walker, who has ended up writing eight of the 12 tracks that feature on the band's latest record, Other Love Songs.

The album also features two instrumental compositions by mandolinist Adam Roszkiewicz and a couple of covers - one of Millionaire by David Olney and the other a swampy, blues-rock reimagining of the Carter Family’s Storms are on the Ocean.

Tickets for the Otley show cost £13 and can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466 or popping into the Courthouse, on Courthouse Street.
