THE sun is shining and we're feeling fine here at Ilkley Cinema. But if this fabulously unpredictable British weather decides to take a turn towards the wretched, we have some wonderful films for you to fill the latter weekend of this half term holiday.

It's the legend that is known throughout history, and now we have an iconoclastic take on the classic Excalibur myth, tracing Arthur’s journey from the streets to the throne in King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. After the murder of his father, young Arthur's power-hungry uncle Vortigern seizes control of the crown. Robbed of his birth right, he grows up the hard way in the back alleys of the city, not knowing who he truly is. When fate leads him to pull the Excalibur sword from stone, Arthur embraces his true destiny.

His swagger and sex appeal is an undoubted hit with the ladies, his detective skills are to die for and he can literally see the truth. Who is this wonderful man, I hear you cry, it is none other Britain's finest TV cop Mindhorn. In the 1980s, Richard Thorncroft was in his prime playing the eyepatch wearing detective, but 25 years have passed and let's just say the actor is down on his luck. This is until a lunatic leaves behind a trail of harrowing evidence in his wake, and demands one thing: to speak to Mindhorn. Thinking this man is real, Thorncroft must dig deep into his past and bring Mindhorn back to life to negotiate with this insane criminal.

We are also showing Letters From Baghdad, the story of Gertrude Bell, sometimes called the female Lawrence of Arabia. Voiced by Tilda Swinton, this film tells the dramatic story of this British spy, explorer and political powerhouse. And finally, because it was so popular the first time round, we decided to bring Beauty and the Beast back for another weekend of musical entertainment.
