IF THERE was ever a record to squeeze in as many different types of film into one week at Ilkley Cinema, we’ve certainly hit the nail on the head. Canine reincarnation, intergalactic superheroes, morale boosting films in wartorn London, terrifying, gooey aliens and tux-wearing spy babies. You can't get more of an eclectic mix than that!

This half term, we have the latest instalment in the sci-fi franchise Alien: Covenant. Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, members of the colony ship Covenant discover what they think to be an uncharted paradise. While there, they meet David, the synthetic survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition. The mysterious world soon turns dark and dangerous when a hostile alien life-form forces the crew into a deadly fight for survival.

And for something a bit more grounded, and by that we mean set on this planet, we have historical drama The Promise. Set during the last days of the Ottoman Empire, The Promise follows a love triangle between Michael, a brilliant medical student, the beautiful and sophisticated Ana, and Chris - a renowned American journalist. But as the Ottoman Empire crumbles into war-torn chaos, their conflicting passions must be deferred as they join forces to get themselves and their people to safety

We also have WWII drama flick Their Finest and Marvel Universe extravaganza Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 joining us for another week of mad adventures and heart warming dramas.

Finally, treat the little ones this holiday with our duo of kids films. Alec Baldwin voices the Boss Baby, a new arrival in a slick suit with a secret mission to stop his dastardly enemy: puppies. And on the subject of cute pooches, we have the story of man's beloved best friend in A Dog's Purpose. A devoted dog discovers the meaning of its own existence through the lives of the humans it teaches to laugh and love over several reincarnations.
