BRADFORD Festival Choral Society will be presenting an evening of opera favourites at All Saints Parish Church in Bingley on Saturday, May 13

The programme will include music by Verdi and Bizet from Carmen, Aida and La Traviata and includes The March of the Toreadors, The Anvil Chorus , Va Pensiero and the famous Drinking Song.

It promises to be a evening combining many favourites along with a few less familiar pieces. The choir will be joined by some talented and exciting soloists including Ilkley based Joanne Dexter whose recent performance was described in the Huddersfield Examiner as “the true highlight of the evening. Generous in tone and emotion, she delivered an intelligent and engaging performance”. Regular members of the audience will remember her beautiful singing in the choir’s performance of Mozart’s requiem in March 2017.

The choir is performing in Bingley as part of its aim to take choral music around Bradford and hopes that new music lovers will be tempted to come along and enjoy the music in the beautiful surroundings of this ancient church close to the Rive Aire.

Maggie Eisner the choir’s chair said: "Our rehearsals are going really well and everyone is excited at the prospect of bringing this lovely music to Bingley.”

There will also be refreshments available during the interval.

The choir is keen to make music accessible to all and particularly to encourage younger people. It therefore offers all its concerts free to under 18s. The concert will be of interest to school pupils studying music and it hopes that school groups might choose to come.

Tickets cost £16 full price, £14 concessions and free to under 18s. Group tickets for 5 cost £60. They are available on the night or from www.bradfordfestivalchoralsociety.org.uk
