A STRING quartet with a difference will be getting audiences on their feet at Otley Courthouse next month.

Graffiti Classics' goal in life is to make classical music 'wickedly funny and fantastically exhilarating' for all ages.

The quartet use their musical, vocal, dancing and comedy talents to deliver a mixture of classical concert, gypsy-folk romp, opera, and stand-up comedy show.

Their repertoire encompasses everything from Beethoven to Bluegrass, Baroque to Pop, Mozart or Offenbach to Elvis, Strauss and even a bit of Saturday Night Fever.

The group started up after Cathal Ó Dúill had been street-performing in London’s Covent Garden and realised that, by adding a bit of comedy and dance, he could make classical music fun for everyone.

Graffiti Classics has gone to tour the world, playing everywhere from Spain to Malaysia, Singapore and Sweden.

Their Courthouse concert takes place from 8pm on Friday, February 24.

Tickets cost £12 and can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466 or popping into the venue, on Courthouse Street, Otley.
