ONE of the UK's best-loved comedy actors will take the stage at Otley Courthouse next month.

John Challis is best known for his role as Boycie in the BBC's hit sitcom Only Fools and Horses and its spin off, The Green Green Grass.

His long career, however, has also included a host of other TV and stage performances.

During the 1970s and 1980s he appeared in many classic shows including Dr Who, Coronation Street, Open All Hours and The Sweeney.

And he has been back on TV again this year, appearing in Benidorm and the all-new Are You Being Served.

John will be sharing some of his best anecdotes, drawn from more than a half century in show business, with the audience when he appears at Otley Courthouse on Saturday, October 22.

Insights into his Only fools and Horses co-stars, Sir David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst, will feature over the course of the evening.

He will also discuss his friendship with The Rolling Stones, Oliver Reed and George Best - and explain why the turned down the lead role in the Beatles' Magical Mystery Tour film.

His comedy talk begins at 7.30pm and tickets cost £16.

They can be booked by visiting otleycourthouse.org.uk, calling (01943) 467466, or popping into the Courthouse on Courthouse Street, Otley.
