HORSFORTH CHURCHES TOGETHER: There was a change to this year’s route for the Good Friday Walk of Witness in Horsforth. It started at Central Methodist Church and proceeded down the centre of the road to The Green. This was because Horsforth Churches Together had decided to pay the costs involved in a road closure. Side by side people from the various churches were united in witnessing their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ, telling the story in the songs they sang. Many were moved by the service on the Green, led by the Revd Alistair Jones, Minister of Grove and Central Methodist Churches, with its Gospel passion narrative and reading of Jesus’ seven last words from the cross each followed by a prayer of intercession. Following this, those present were warmly invited to a lunch of soup and hot cross buns at The Grove Centre. Somehow the hospitality at the Grove stretched to cater for a much larger crowd than usual who greatly appreciated the excellent food and welcome they received.
