OTLEY Brass Band and Steeton Male Voice Choir joined forced to perform in a charity concert at Selby Abbey.

The band and the choir performed at the Chairman’s Charity Concert, organised by Selby District Council chairman, John Cattanach, helping to raise more than £2,500.

Councillor Cattanach says his friend of 40 years, Rom Mooney, suggested he could ask a local brass band to perform at the fundraiser. The band then suggested that Steeton Male Voice Choir was willing to participate, and the concert took shape.

In his year as council chairman, Coun Cattanach has been raising money for St Leonard’s Hospice, York Against Cancer and Selby District Vision.

Councillor Cattanach said: “The people of Otley and Steeton must be very proud of these two talented organisations and on behalf of the people of Selby, can I thank them for performing and at their own expense for my charities”
