An award-winning animated film should get families into the festive spirit at Otley Courthouse next weekend.

Arthur Christmas, by Aardman Animations, tells the Christmas Eve story of Santa’s clumsy son, Arthur, who discovers that his father’s high-tech sleigh has failed to deliver one girl's present.

The magical movie, featuring the voices of James McAvoy, Jim Broadbent, Bill Nighy, and Hugh Laurie, will be screened at 2pm on Saturday, December 21.

The Courthouse’s centre manager, Chloe Perry, said: “Christmas and cartoons are a perfect match.

“This is your opportunity to share a joyous afternoon with your little ones, and keep their festive spirits high.”

Tickets cost £4 for adults, £2 for children aged 18 months and over, and popcorn and ice cream will be available.

Later on the same day, meanwhile, the Courthouse will host its final performance of 2013 with a performance by four nationally renowned carollers. Barry Coope, Lester Simpson, Fi Fraser and Jo Freya will use the harmonies of their vocals and an array of instruments to deliver some spine-tingling seasonal melodies.

Tickets for the show cost £11 or £9 in advance, or £12 or £10 on the door, and can be bought at the venue, in advance at otleycourthouse.org.uk, or calling (01943) 476466.
