Busy summer of fun for children at Otley Courthouse

It is going to be a busy summer at Otley Courthouse with activities for children of all ages.

It gets going on August 13 to 17 with a week of arts and crafts for ages five to 12. From creating monsters using Mod Roc to sculptures using paper, this will be a great week. There is a workshop every day from 10.30am to 12.30pm, costing £5 per child. Call (01943) 467466 to book.

Otley Town Council is supporting a fantastic songwriting workshop from 2 to 4pm on August 22. Run by experienced songwriters Nick Hall and Michelle Plum, the workshop is open to anyone aged 12 to 18 and costs £5. It’s perfect for those who already write songs to get advice, and also for those who would just like to give it a go. You don’t have to play an instrument to attend, but if you do, then take it with you.

Anyone who has attended one of Nick and Michelle’s songwriting workshops at the Courthouse during the past year will have the opportunity to record some of their material, free of charge between 4pm and 7pm.

The Courthouse is hosting the performance of The Big Hoo Ha’s Gig In A Week on August 4, and September 1 will see free taster sessions from all the children’s activities that take place at the Courthouse for youngsters aged up to 12.

And help the Courthouse Ring In The Olympics at 8am on July 27, as part of Martin Creed’s specially-commissioned work. There will be orange juice and croissants!
