At the monthly meeting of the Yeadon Amateur Operatic And Dramatic Society management committee, secretary Linda Marshall gave an update on the successful progress being made towards the staging of the hilarious musical play Nunsense, which is being performed at Yeadon Town Hall from October 10 to 13.
Rehearsals are well underway, and are being thoroughly enjoyed by the cast of ‘nuns’ – Kath Williams, Joanna Clark, Jane Collins, Emma Fearnley and Caroline Auty. They will be under the skillful direction of Paul Chewins, musical director Anthony Martin and choreographer Ted Oxley. Call (0113) 2505587 or (0113) 2503032 for tickets.
All the ladies were involved in the success of the group’s production of Sweet Charity, which has received 11 nominations for the Wharfedale Festival of Theatre annual awards ceremony this month.
Casting for the main musical production La Cage aux Folles in March 2013 is well underway, with the first rehearsal planned for November 19. Director Jonathan Tate, musical director Marie Carter and choreographer Ted Oxley are looking forward to combining together in presenting this truly spectacular show, which broke all records on the London stage with Danny La Rue in the starring role. Auditions for the ‘Cagelles’ will be at 11am on July 22 at Yeadon Town Hall. Call (0113) 2503032 for details.
Vice-chairman Joan Graham reported on the very enjoyable target bowls evening held at Rufford Park Bowling Club, which was well supported by members and friends, with supper provided by the ladies’ committee. Future fundraising events include a strawberry cream tea at the home of Dr and Mrs Thakur from 2pm on July 21, and the ever-popular quiz night is at St Peter and Paul Parish Church Centre on October 20 at 7.30pm.
Pam Beck will direct and arrange the traditional Christmas concert at Yeadon Town Hall on December 14.
