Choirs team up for town cafe

Two choirs will sing together to raise money for an Ilkley community cafe tomorrow night.

Ilkley Moornotes Community Choir will be putting on a concert in conjunction with Otley Singers to raise money for the Oasis Café, which provides work for adults with learning disabilities. The concert will take place at the Sanctuary, Christ Church, Ilkley at 7.30pm.

Ilkley Moornotes was set up four years ago by Dave Robinson and is now led by Beccy Owen, a singer/songwriter who has a wide range of experience working with children and adults in a range of styles.

The choir has steadily grown and now has well over 30 regular members at its Monday evening meetings at the Friends’ Meeting House. It has a wide repertoire which includes pop, folk and songs from around the world The Oasis Café is to move to new premises this year, allowing it to open six days a week. Fundraising is underway to refit its new base.
