The cast of Ilkley Upstagers’ production of Summer Holiday
A former X Factor contender will be in a lead role when the Upstagers take to the stage of the Alhambra Theatre next week for their production of Summer Holiday.
The Ilkley-based musical theatre group will be performing Summer Holiday – based on the 1960s classic film starring Cliff Richard – at Bradford’s Alhambra from April 25 to 28.
Making his Upstagers debut will be Luke Bayer, 19, in the lead role, Don.
Fans of The X Factor may recognise Luke from the TV talent contest, where he reached the final six male competitors.
He is a member of the National Youth Musical Theatre and took part in the 20th anniversary of Les Miserables. He will perform again this July for the National Youth Music Theatre in Out There In London before he heads off to the prestigious Mountview Drama School.
Luke will join other talented young performers in this feel-good musical, guaranteed to bring a little sunshine into your life, as Don and the boys head off on a big red bus around Europe.
The show features the songs In The Country, Summer Holiday, Do You Wanna Dance?, Bachelor Boy, Move It, Living Doll, The Young Ones and On The Beach.
Tickets are available from the Alhambra box office (01274) 432000 or Bradford district tourist information offices. Buses will be running from Ilkley directly to the Alhambra. Call (01943) 817924 (cost £5 return).
