Yeadon Town Hall was filled with the sound of the Welsh valleys when the Fron Male Voice Choir appeared in concert.

The choir, who are from Llangollen in North Wales and better known as The Voices of the Valley, performed to an appreciative audience with a varied programme ranging from songs from popular musicals such as West Side Story and Les Miserables to the more traditional numbers Morte Christe and the theme from Exodus, all under the guidance of their delightful female musical director Leigh Mason.

Also appearing was the young talented soprano Alexandra Lowe who had travelled from Blackpool to appear in the concert.

Yeadon Charities president Peter Long said: “When we booked the choir last year they asked me if I would engage a soloist to perform two 15-minute spots during the concert to enable the choir to rest their voices. I had seen Alexandra featured in the Wharfedale Observer and as soon as I heard her sing I booked her for the concert.”

Alexandra’s choice of songs delighted the audience among which was the lovely Think of Me from Phantom and Vilja from The Merry Widow. This is clearly a young lady with a big future.

Yeadon Charities Association hope to make the choir concert an annual event and hope that local people again and, indeed, people from over the north of England with a love of great singing will support their efforts.
