A STELLAR line up of local talent is promised at the Guiseley Station pub music festival this weekend.

The event, on Sunday, May 27, is in its 11th year, and will see seven bands and seven solo artists playing to hundreds of people.

The highlight will be Issimo who, for this occasion, will play as an eight piece band, playing a mix of ska, reggae, funk, rock, jazz and pop. Band leader Marc Otway started out performing at Station Open Mic night as a young teenager, and the band has played festivals such as Cornbury and Bingley Live.

A host of solo performers, some of whom started out at the pub’s open mic night will be headed up by Horsforth’s Ricky Fleming, now a full time musician working out of Nottingham.

Other bands taking to the stage will be Guiseley favourites Elephant Trees, fronted by Martha Phillips; fast rising Citrus Heights, fronted by Rawdon vocalist Jamie Kelly; The American Dream, Regan, Back Space and Blue Horizon.

Back Space are a Guiseley five piece indie rock band who played last year’s festival after their song writing and performing skills saw them win the Aireborough battle of the Band’s.

Playing country rock The American Dream was formed by Guiseley guitar/vocalist Gary Linley, Bingley guitar/vocalist Craig Hughes and cajon exponent Jonathan Jones.

For the festival they will become a four piece with the addition of bassist Doug Cliffe.

Bradford five piece indie rock band Regan take their name from lead vocalist Aaron Regan. They have built a strong reputation around Leeds and Bradford.

The event will kick start at noon with Yeadon singer songwriter Joseph Jones.

There will be an outside bar provided by Saltaire Brewery and a barbecue. Entry to the festival is by wristband in exchange for a donation to the festival charities SENSE, Guiseley In Bloom and Guiseley Senior Citizens.
